The African and Chinese goose thread!!

Pics
Supposed to be 109 here today. It was 106 yesterday. My goslings did great. I kept their kiddie pool full of fresh cool water, a sprinkler going and they chased the shady spots in between baths and sprinkler dashes.

And I have to say they are getting a long fabulously with my 5 week old chickens! The chickens like to come up to the pool and sneak sips or grab some of the lettuce we toss in for the goosies. haha The goslings are less afraid of the chickens (who just liked to come say hi, no aggression what so ever) but now the goslings do that head to the ground thing to shoo them away. ;)

They are still goose babies for sure. when new people stop and look at them they always ask if the geese hiss or chase me. I say lets find out open the gate and walk in they all run to me, honking and push each other out of the way to try and be the first petted and talked to. Blows people away every time, People think because they have or have heard of someone being attacked, hissed at, chased, or pinched by a goose they just assume all geese are mean. Geese are as individual as me and you, or old Fido for that matter. How many people have encountered a mean or aggressive dog at one time in their lives, lots. but no one assumes that every dog they meet is going to bite them, so why think every goose you meet will? They can be aggressive when protecting their mate or offspring but if some one tried to kill and eat your loved ones on a regular basis you might be a little quick to act too.

Zoowee, my goslings are about 6 weeks old in those latest pics. We are getting lots of wet cooler (low 90's) weather here but when we were in the 100's it was horrible! I worried about my goodies since u have to work and leave them in the house we ate building with just a fan and tubs of water to get in, so really enjoying this weather.

Great photos EVERYONE! Everyone needs a goose or 2! LOVE THEM! I should have had them all along. They are the best!

I finally named my goslings.....(left to right) meet Beetle, Juice & Newton.

Juice taking a little nappy.

My Chinese Brown, DuckDuck, is 8 weeks old today and has no knob at all. Is DuckDuck female? Could DuckDuck be a cross? DuckDuck's feet started out black, as a hatchling, and are now fading to a paler shade of gray/pink. But they are definitely NOT orange. Photos attached. We are eager to sex our feathered fried so we can acquire the right mate. DuckDuck really needs a goose-friend.
