The African and Chinese goose thread!!

She doesn't lay every day but she has laid a few eggs.
Geese normally lay every other day have you been taking her eggs or leaving them? does she seem to be walking any different like she maybe pushing or having trouble? Water fowl can get egg bound hopefully that isn't the problem do you have any calcium around the house even human you could crush up a pill and put it into her water close to where she is laying and see if she'll drink it some use calcium citrate or calcium gluconate to give some extra calcium I think even coral calcium would be fine depending on what you have. If you can keep her separate so you can monitor her egg laying that would help to rule out egg binding. I'd check her vent out to make sure there isn't any discharge to. They can get infection and we'd be the last to know before it's too late. Don't want to alarm you just trying to rule ot the worst.

I forgot to say she's a chicken. She perked up when I brought her warm oatmeal. Her area is dirty and I've washed it before but it still gets dirty. I don't know how to prevent it.

LOL well thanks for letting me know. you mean her vent area gets dirty? I have a few LF hens who get dirty so iItrim their feather around and under their vents it really helps to keep them cleaner.

She's almost 2. I washed her vent and feathers good, got most of it cleaned.
Does the mess on her bottom looks whitish could be vent gleet. You might want to read up on it. Like I said trimming her feathers around her vent and down under her vent will help keep her cleaner.

Okay is this okay? We didn't know bread was bad for them! We have this and 15 grain.
? Mine love bread they usually get a taste once in a while It's alot of carbs so it's best to feed sparingly. Alot of folks who go to parks etc feed nasty white bread and alot of time stale too. or moldy which is really bad for them and being fed alot of bread can cause angel wing and health issues. A good whole feed formulated for poultry or water fowl is best treats given sparingly.
