The African and Chinese goose thread!!

Oh last time he was visited by both. If it happens again I will go to magistrate judge and have him dealt with. Animal Control is always a Smart *** when they come. Getting them to come out here is a problem unless you call 911 which is what I did last time because the dog was a Pitt and growling and snapping at me when I was beating it of my birds with a pitch fork and then a 12 gage. I never got a clean shot that I wouldn't kill half my flock. It still makes my blood pressure thinking about it...
I cannot imagine. Thankfully I have not had to deal with this yet and it's been 11 yrs. but I keep a shot gun and rifle by front and back door just in case. We did see coyote poop yesterday down on the dirt road off our driveway. I assume coyote since we know they are around. I hope you can get this issue taken care of either by better fencing or by getting someone to take care of these dogs .

I candled my gooses eggs and non of them were fertile either. Just had 3. She went broody while I was on vacation. I hadbut about two weeks so I didn't have a lot of hope he would have figured his job out in that short of time. She does have 8 growing duck eggs.

I have another predator coming around. It happens about every 6 months here. I lock everyone up at night, but me neighbor won't keep his dogs at home. Every six months his puppy is old enough to get out, cross the road, and get theirselves in my fenced in yard. I have a fence company coming Saturday to see if they can figure out how to keep them out. Its really frustrating...

I am so sorry. Been through this too, lost a bottle kid goat a several years back. Had an enclosed fence, 6 ft high with a top. This dog drug my goat through a 2" opening, snapping off the horn buds and killed the goat, then went after my dad. Called the sheriff, made a report. Never got the dog. Dad was walking out to get this paper and saw the whole thing! Free roaming dogs are a predator period. My biggest gripe and really angers me. I am thankful my dad wasn't injured.

It takes time, but the wound heals. The scar remains reminding you to learn, to be more aware. I lost WeeWee almost 2 years ago, a true pet. Sit in your lap and nuzzle, adored her. And Paddy her "son" the same day. I suspect antifreeze or a poisonous substance, they died within hours of each other. Our property is a massive clean up in progress, and I have since found so much that was hazardous to animals.. right down to the plants used as landscaping. It was resectioned farmland, and my parents had bought a parcel 15 years ago. Lot more to do but the abandoned buildings and hazardous waste is now removed. Paddy was almost a yearling when we lost him, WeeWee was 2 years old. I could not even look at the pictures for a long time.

Such a precious picture such heartache.
How awful for your dad to see something so horrid, Thank goodness he wasn't attacked.

I'm sorry for your lose. I didn't realize until now there is a typeO in my post. I had my gander less than two weeks when my goose went broody. Her eggs weren't fertile. He is still here running around happily.

Going to start saving for the fence repairs. I need a flood gate...

Next year will be the charm.

We had temps into the low 90's about 4 days last week not normal for NC mountains today nice cool breeze and feels so awesome high into mid 70's I could live with this the rest of the summer.
Lets enjoy it while it's here.

We are getting rain daily here too. One day is terrible hot and humid. Next day chilly and high 60s! Its no wonder laying cycles are so messed up. I did have my first brown chinese hatch, brooded by my oldest muscovy hen. 3 eggs left and thats it for us this year, mine have stopped laying.
I took the egg a week before hatch, the gosling is just precious

DD will be taking all the goslings for her poultry farm this year.
