The African and Chinese goose thread!!

We are getting rain daily here too. One day is terrible hot and humid. Next day chilly and high 60s! Its no wonder laying cycles are so messed up. I did have my first brown chinese hatch, brooded by my oldest muscovy hen. 3 eggs left and thats it for us this year, mine have stopped laying.
I took the egg a week before hatch, the gosling is just precious

DD will be taking all the goslings for her poultry farm this year.
The weather has been weird this year for sure. At least you did get some goslings hope you get to post some pics before they all leave for the poultry farm. Would love to see them.

Hello! I got baby african geese from Metzer farms two weeks ago, I got the normal africans not the super africans. Does anyone know if they have chinese genetics as well?
Welcome to BYC!!!
Their "super african" is closest to the true african in type. I have "african" from Meyer, they are crossed with brown chinese, There is a slight difference in the voice compared to my white chinese, who were hatched by a local breeder. My brown gander is larger also than my white. Cold hardy, and efficient in free range and grazing. My chinese/african geese rarely touch the feed in the warm months. My embden make a trip to the feeder frequently!
I adore the brown chinese/african geese, my favorite. Hens are great moms and very social.
My brown gander as a young adult, 2 winters ago.
