Mune must be weird!! They protect the ducks more than they do each other!! When the dog get clkse to the waterfowl my gander gets his mate and the ducks behind him and stays between them and the dog! My Muscovys are sweet. Especially the drake!! He snuggles with CX hen every night in the same spot!! I talked to a Muscovy breeder and she was amazed at how big my drake is! He is only 8-9 months old!

So many differences! Mine are like a bouncer at a bar, security for a building. The like everyone until there is a fight! My BB (Big Boy) Embden and Gee my White Chinese gander are the geese police! Fights are not allowed, and the boys will end it.They break up any other species boy fights. My Brown Chinese gander is still young enough he lets the older fellas handle the argument
Breeding season changes everything. BB lets no bird near his hens. Gee circles the chinese hens nonstop, charges anything coming near his ladies. Jerk, the brown chinese gander still doesn't "get it" so he may go to my vets flock this year. He defends the flock but is not breeding with his hens, very odd.

Oh, my gander is anti-fighting too. However, he usually is much harder on the drakes than they are on each other, so he really makes it worse.

He is watching out for his goose hens. Good boy!
Yeah, but he is a little weird about it. The two drakes that bother her the most, he ignores! I think he still has a little to figure out.

This will be their 2nd year laying. I just got them about 1 month ago so have never been through breeding season.

So our Peanut was murdered on the 29 by our neighbors LOOSE Pitbull!!! ******* squeezed through our gate came up to our back porch and killed him then proceeded to try and kill Marshmallow!!! We bought a gun and she won't let us get two inches away from her. Had to bring her in the house. We are going to get a goose companion for her any suggestions? Male or female? So traumatized!!!
