The African and Chinese goose thread!!

Yes here are the claw marks from the dog squeezing back out ! While my husband was chaseing him in his robe and slippers with a shovel
Your loss saddens me so much. I know how painful this is. We had 2 bottle baby goats several years ago. 6 ft chain link fence, tight gate and a chain link roof.Totally new construction we thought safe. 2 Stray dogs grabbed one of our babies and pulled him through a 2 inch gap in the gate, killed him. Snapped his horns off, tells you the force of strength the dog had. Called the sheriff and the dogs were never caught. First time I have seen my Dad cry. We had separate houses at the time. Just senseless death brought on by an irresponsible dog owner. Just makes me sick. Dad was in PJs and slippers getting his paper, and had to throw rocks from the driveway because the dogs went after him too.

Animal Control came today and we got our New Guy last night. He was not raised people so we will teach him.

He is 2 but has learned his name and is grasping the whole peoplegoose flock thing. We figure about a month to help him learn this whole blended family bit.

He looks kind of girly with all those curly feathers. Lol He is afraid of people well he was but he calmed down once we showed him no aggressive moves. Sorry big deal we never had geese before? Chickens are kind of dumb, ducks and turkeys are pretty smart.

The only dumb question is one thats never asked! No worries at all! Geese are mostly vegetarians. Some of the treats I give mine is baby spinach, fresh corn, romaine lettuce and they love oats, wheat, cracked or whole dry corn. They really like bread, but thats not a healthy treat for them, offer it sparingly. . I have taught them all with treats to come to me when I call them. Their pond is clear in the back of our property so I like to keep a close eye on them.

So our Peanut was murdered on the 29 by our neighbors LOOSE Pitbull!!! ******* squeezed through our gate came up to our back porch and killed him then proceeded to try and kill Marshmallow!!! We bought a gun and she won't let us get two inches away from her. Had to bring her in the house. We are going to get a goose companion for her any suggestions? Male or female? So traumatized!!!

Do you have a picture of the dog? What did animal control do? So sorry for your loss.

Can we refrain from calling it a Pit Bull? It most likely was not an actual pit bull, probably a mutt with a big head. I'm disgusted any owner would let their dog loose, but breed really has nothing to do with it, and misidentifying just fuels breed specific legislation,
