I have noticed in the past the pekin sneak eggs into the goose nests. My geese are fine with any ducks, but they all were brooded and raised together. I have my tiny Snow mallard housed with my Buffs, and they are fine with that. The Buffs I didn't raise, but the neighbor brooded them with their ducks.

I had 60 plus at one point not counting the adult breeders. I have an agreement with my vet every year for started geese. He buys everyone I hatch thats not promised to others. They are not for food! He maintains a small poultry farm, and they help deter hawks... Gosling are at risk, but started adults are fine. All his poultry is kept behind hot wire fencing so ground predators isn't an issue for him.
He does not want to brood, hatch etc so its win/win for us both. I get to raise and adore my goslings. He gets to have human imprinted young geese. His business has expanded a great deal due to my geese, he has almost no loss now.

The funny thing is though my geese were brooded with my ducks, and have always lived with them. Now I have to keep them in separate pens but still they go on walks and swims together everyday.

How many geese does your vet have by now then?

That's pretty neat tbh. I think everyone would want to hatch that many goslings and knowing they will be taken care of properly.
I've 29 acres of fields and also a lot more acres in neighbouring fields where my geese used to graze the farmers loved seeing the geese graze up and down everyday. It was risky to predators as there wasn't proper fencing but I barely ever got a loss. In winter time I didn't allow them walk that far due to hungry foxes.
In 2014 there was a total of 96 goslings born at my place from both incubating and broody geese. I sold most of them because imagine 96 more geese to 100

I decided I wanted to start with African geese so last year I sold all my geese and yes it was really hard!
I sold my last 10 this spring and only have all African geese left and one embden
Since I only have 12 geese in total now the geese only graze on 5 acres near the house as there is no point in going further. Plenty of grass!

Wow. How far away is your house from the racket?

Elizabeth started laying again, she was hatched last June, so do you think she would be able to incubate and hatch goslings now?

That must have been really hard. What kinds of geese did you use to have?

Embden, Chinese and greylag at first.
Then came the Pomeranian, pilgrim and Toulouse geese.
Roman tuft and then my last were the African geese.
And a lot of mixes
