The African and Chinese goose thread!!

Thank you jchny2000. I took your advice and went outside prepared in long sleeves, gloves, and boots ready to do business! I guess they sensed that I was ready to take them on because they eye balled me speculatively peeped at me and moved on about their business

Now hopefully they will continue to do that, but if not...I guess it will be time to get down and dirty and show them who is boss. Love those guys but they are making life difficult out here.

You're welcome! They sense a change in our posture and demeanor, geese are pretty smart. When they see you aren't backing down, they rethink their actions.

I think some here said that if a Brown Chinese gander crossed with a white Chinese goose it would be brown/grey with a white bib??

I have a couple, will look for pictures.. The cross will create a brown bibbed bird with a white belly. True brown chinese normally are brown almost all the way down the chest. My white pair are getting older so I rarely see a pure white chinese hatch anymore.

Well I have hatched 20 goslings and the have all been brown/yellow but there is one that is solid white but I only have one white female and only have brown males.

Only geese I have are 2 pair of brown Chinese 1lone white Chinese goose and a trio of Toulouse but the Toulouse are in a separate enclosure.

Then without a doubt it has to be white chinese with brown genes.

has lovely Africans and can better explain. Hatchery are less likely to meet SOP (Standard Of Perfection) for the breed, and are not as closely watched for meeting standards. Many are actually a chinese and african cross. Super African are closer to the real thing. Its all in what you want honestly and availability of a good breeder.

The gosling was our first hatch here, named Paddy having hatched on St Patricks. Mama doesn't know he isn't "hers" But sure attached herself! Paddy had short daily visits until he matured enough to join the flock.
