Pics

April is checking in

She is so pretty.

Thought I'd post a few new pictures of Ninya and Charlie and give an up-date on them.
In the background in the first picture is their goose house in the goose yard. It still needs a coat of paint and some shingles but it is cozy and blocks the winds. We have had temps in the mid to low 30s and now the grass is not as green. They go out to graze every day and are ranging further out. They still have not discovered the pond just past the barb wire fence...they have a gate to go thru first. Seems they think the gates are keeping them in...although they both know how to get under the cable fence into the garden

It's been 6 weeks since Ninya last had an incident with a her tendon...

..that she has out-grown it.

hanging out waiting for coop up time. There is a gate to the yard around the house and they won't go past that gate. Of course there is a highway that direction too...so maybe that is a good thing.

The geese wander all around the equipment with the chickens and get in the water tub in the foreground and even play king of the mountain on the sand hill. There are three ponds within walking distance of that back gate and 240 acres of grassland, ponds and trees. The wild geese are back and Charlie and Ninya honk at them but have made no attempts to leave the lot.

They look great!

Thank you. I think so too. My brother-in-law is not well liked by gander Charlie. He charges the BIL all the time and "yells" (honks loudly) at him. I guess geese know who doesn't appreciate them.
BIL is always teasing "If you split it's tongue will it be more quiet" or "When are you putting him in the freezer?"

NanaKat, would love to see pics of Ninya & Charlie in the garden

In the meantime, here are some nap time pics!

Nine (gander) on the left, April (goose) is on the right.

April:

Nine, looking like a little ball:

Awwww, they are gorgeous!

And look what Ninya did today! Her egg is in the upper right.

Clockwise compared to an Australorp chicken, a quarter, a pullet egg and three bantie eggs.

I wasn't home when she laid her egg. Do geese sing an egg song like my chickens?

Congrats!! Is that her 1st egg?? April laid about 12 last month, then stopped. I'm wondering when she'll start up again. She didnt sing an egg song after laying.
