The All Night Diners

Its your fault, i was dreaming about grooming dogs last night!:lau Very stressful when you have time pressure. I used to do up to 13 dogs a day, and i like to spend 1.5-2 hours per dog doing a perfect clip. It helps to have a dog bather. Generally clip before and after the bath.
Hope all the problems resolve for you. Hubby's Dad is not doing well. SOB just walking short distances in the house.

I don’t understand how it takes that long to groom a dog. I used a groomer for one dog a few times. I got a discount because he was so well behaved ($25 instead of $40!). I still can’t understand why he had to be left so long when he was the only one there.
Please do educate me (if possible!). How did you get a dog to stay calm that long? I was afraid to ask my groomer. She was crazy, and I didn’t want to offend her.

Yeah , it is sad to see him declining. He has to wear depends. Getting old really sucks.
When i get a dog for grooming , i put it on the table and check it for mats, fleas, ticks etc. I discuss with the people how they want it styled. The dogs are generally much better behaved without the owner around. If the dog is not matted, it is so much easier. I have done dogs that had to be brushed for an hour and dematted before i did anything else. I had 100 + ticks to remove from another dog. I have seen dogs with fleas so bad the water ran red from flea dirt when i washed it. So after the mats are removed or loosened as needed, the dog is given a quick clip to get rid of a lot of the fur that would take more drying time. Ears are cleaned, nails clipped, anal glands cleaned if needed. Dog is washed, sometimes twice. Dog gets toweled and blow dried. Fur is reclipped, and fur on ears, face , feet trimmed. Bows and bandana applied. The thing is, when the owner shows up before you are done, the dog goes nuts and you really might as well give up working on them. Plus no one likes to rush. I used to clip one, bather washes and dries, then i clip another. Some places have all the dogs come in the morning, picked up in the afternoon. Works well for people that work all day.
I found most dogs had pretty good attitudes except about getting their nails cut. They can tell if you are in charge or easily bluffed. :)

Got a bit of a headache tonight, guess it's sinus pressure. I brought the baby bunnies in because it was quite cold out and i couldn't really put a heat lamp in that cage. I will give them back to their Ma in the morning.
