sorry for your lossGlad I was referred to this group. It seems that everyone here is pretty nice. I lost my roo last week to a fox and we were told he was a lavender splash, but the people on the lavender page so kindly told me that I didn't belong there because my guy first want lavender and second wasn't a splash. Either way I don't care he wad my baby and I loved him. Now we currently have 2 black AMs, 3 Doms, and one we aren't sure what she is (hubby thinks she is a heritage RIR). We had a few blue AMs but the neighbors dog thought he needed to play with them, so when we lost our guy last week we quickly got our Betty's eggs out of the fridge and put them in the incubator hoping for some color traits from our roo.

This was our Maeson, he kept our small yard flock in line and was their protector.
Here are some new pics. The cock is over 1 year and still has slate legs.He was the first male to not turn to spotted legs. The pullet is 5 months and has been laying about a month. She lays a nice blue egg.I have produced mostly single barred males due to mating back to blacks for type and egg color.I have several cockerels with slate legs but will wait until after 6 months of age to see if they stay slate.I feel I have made good progress.I feel I got a lucky break on the odds.I would not have pursued this project except some said it was impossible.I could not resist.I had to try before I was convinced. As you can see I don't believe impossible.
Wow, way to go!!![]()

I just want to add, don't be discouraged if they are EE's. I found out the same thing with my Ameracauna's to EE. They have become my favorite chickens, sitting on our laps and letting me love on them. I wouldn't give them back for the real ones.
Congrats Jerryse ........... beautiful barreds !!!! how far are we from the possibility of being able to get my hands on these barred ameraucanas ?
Or can i help in any way with this ... i've always loved the barred pattern .
Thanks ,
Shannon
