I doubt that the seller would let you visit.  I don't anymore because I don't want my Cemani and Svart Hona stolen.  I make people meet me at Home Depot.

We did the same with parrots- though at coffee shops ;) , between diseases and theft it wasn't worth it to have visitors, spending money or not. I also did similar when selling puppies, I needed to see how potential buyers reacted to big dogs, hairy dogs, wet beards when they drink and pushy dogs that won't listen until you outmaneuver them. And then there are the people that think they can use force. Doesn't work with the dogs and most definitely doesn't work with parrots. Those beaks can bite off fingers.

Anyway- I agree DCchicken. It was an off the cuff joke said in surprise that she/he's so close.

Me either. I always meet at a gas station. Where there are ppl and I'm comfortable. As a woman that's not very big, I would never have buyers at my farm. Not to mention the bio security issue.

It's more about theft for me. I am a big Irish man with a crossbow but still I can't watch the chickens 24 hours a day. I have run across a few people that the elevator doesn't go all the way to the top. Better safe than sorry.

Plus I am a fanatic of bio security. I have 15+ rare breeds and some of them have not been in this country long enough (like my Marsh Daisy) to develop resistance to cocci.
