This question may be answered somewhere further back in the 119 pages of this thread already, sorry if I'm redundant. Have a black roo with gorgeous type I want to use on my paints to improve type and reduce off color. The black roo has rust leakage though. Will that impact? I can't even do a test hatch now bc everyone's broody. I paid a fortune for this guy and am wondering if I should keep looking for another roo. Thanks!!

I am using a black roo with a bit of leakage with a couple of my paints. The babies are born nice and white, but I am noticing when they get older they are getting smutty, but I am not seeing and red leakage, per say, just the dirty looking hackles, so I don't know if it has anything to do with the rooster or if I just need to go yet another generation to get the smut out. Would be interested to hear what others have to say! I do have a beautiful black cockerel that I can't wait to use with the paints, but still waiting for him to grow up!

Thanks Linda. I've heard it can take 3-4 generations of crossing back to black to get rid of the champagne off-color in paints, so it's probably not your roo. My guy has more than just a little leakage though- he has a flood! But came from 2 black parents. And otherwise is a wow bird. What to do what to do....
