The American Paint Silkie

Apparently. A black split Roo over paint hens and a paint Roo over black split hens is how they are penned. The original birds came from a blue Roo over a white hen.

Interesting! The lavs I had years ago had fretting, more the males than the females. That was about 3-4 years ago, when lavs first were finally recognized as self blue. I've been on a hiatus for a while, so I'm having to relearn all this info. I remember then that heavy fretting was not necessarily desirable, but not a huge issue. Is that something that is sold off as pet quality now? Its really amazing to come back after years of being chickenless and see how much has progressed and changed with the lavs :D

I wonder if you might have a chance of getting blue spots out of that.... I have a pen shared by a paint trio and a black trio, so I am doing the same thing as your breeder but with a TON more variability in it. I have hatched some paints. But my latest two chicks are not paints, and they are too light to be black. I am thinking blue but really don't know for sure. Regardless, they are terribly cute but I must say that they are not nearly as nice looking as your little one you have pictured!

Thank You. I am thrilled with this chick. 100 dollars in shipped paint eggs and this one makes it worth it. Blue chicks are very obvious. I will post a photo. Not self blue but BBS blue.

I think shes pretty! Let her fill out some more. She might not do great at a show, but they are super fun to go to. And who knows, she might just win. ;)
