The American Paint Silkie

Full house! 5 broodies (3 went broody today)-in 4 nest boxes on 41 eggs. All but the partridge are part of my paint lines. The paint pullet on the ground is the only one who has yet to go broody, so i know all eggs will be from her for a while. i am hoping her large spot influence will amplify her chicks pattern.

this is what she looked like when she was born last June

so I can't imagine what this little one will look like 8 months from now!!

trying to find silkie chick for sale!!
if anyone knows where i can purchase silkie chicks for sale , Iam from the kingdom of Bahrain..

please help me

Thanks an advance

is this a paint?? LOOK AT THE FEET, yes it is pure silkie.

no that is not the right color for a paint...and those feet are way too yellow. pigment holes would be pinkish not yellow (correct me if I am wrong here) and they would only be spots on the feet not both feet and the legs. I would question if that is a pure silkie because it does not look like it is to me

i thought that too but then i looked at the head and there is definite black skin there. i have had babies skin darken as they mature, the melanin production increases and migrates into the organs and bones as they age.this chick is from the 'powder puff' silkies available from ebay, I admit it is taken on this persons word that they are purebred but the difference between the head skin being black and feet being pale made me wonder.

but reading this abstract makes me wonder if its just an inhibitor and not the 'holes'

i have another freak though from another batch of mailed eggs- a solid yellow skinned sizzle with all 5 toes! and a straight comb...still a cute odd bug!

Could be pure but with a bad gene throwing off yellow from either parent...or a parent silkie with another type of breed....either way yellow feet, not good.. LOL

WHOLLY CRAP, at that price, someone should definitely complain. LOL the yellow feet will not turn dark...if the skin was pinkish, it could very well turn darker but yellow is not going too. Someone is either throwing off the yellow pigment or that coop had a stranger come visit. lol

you can breed the yellow out but it does take some time..
