The American Paint Silkie

I think it just depends on the chick how much and how fast the pigment holes close up. I've had some born that just have some pink toes, but it never did go away yet... and I've had one or two chicks that were completely pink when they were born and within a week you had to really look to see which one it was.
Beautiful babies! Best of luck with them!!

Just got my first paint chicks--what do you think? This is when they are one day old, and still showing a lot of pink skin. If it's going to darken up, how long does it take?

Thanks for looking! I am super excited to finally realize my dream of starting a paint project!!!

Hello,
I know this question has been asked before but here it is again. I just sent some paint eggs to a friend and also had some paint eggs sent from a fellow BYC member to her. I told her that they paints could be shown but I couldn't remember under what class?

Thanks

I am so super happy to say I finally have my paint silkies from the wonderful Twin Maple Ranch. They are about 3 months old and we are not 100% sure of the sex yet, but Linda thinks they may be one of each. She also sent me a black from paint and a white from paint that I am equally excited about! Can't wait to see how they all mature. Right now, they are everything I could have hoped for!

Awww... Thanks April! I'm glad my babies went to such a great home!!

Fertility looks great. These are some of Shayna's eggs and I can't wait! I will post some pictures after they are done. I hope I get some as pretty as yours. Happy hatching all!

I just saw this, but thanks for the help! Pain is such an interesting color--I am soo excited to have babies to experiment with!

Pictures of my paints...... The roo is a blue paint. The hens don't have much paint to them, just a few spots here and there but hopefully with my roo I'll be pulling out some nice babies. One thing I love about my roo and 1 of the hens is that they have no leaking. The other hen has that typical taupe cast to her white that most of your paints are showing now, but the roo and the other hen are bright white with no off color leaking through. They are just about to Point of lay and I can start hatching babies from them........ I may try to do an egg swap with someone else later on for more genetics.
