The American Paint Silkie

Well, I think your bird is gorgeous, the more I look at him the better I like him.
Here is picture of mine and one of him when he was real young, he is still just a youngster.
He is no where near the quality or color of your but he seems to be the same type marking.
So why would the feathers have that deep red tip to them???
I never had this before, is it from the Paint blood?
Surely not from my White Showgirls?

They are so squeeky clean White.

I've seen a few hens like this but with red on their chest area (not wings) which I *think* would be correct for red pyle- wish I could remember the person who had them now

. I'm keeping him regardless- DH went out yesterday with our youngest DS and bought my Mother's Day presents: fencing and a load of building materials and coupons for free labor

Now that's an awesome Mother's Day present!
That roo is stunning. I've always loved the red pyle color, and Linda, I think I have one of the chicks you were talking about?!
Maybe we should work on a new project!

No telling how many have been given away - With his paint markings, the entire feather is black to the skin. The majority of his red markings are on the feather tips only , however, he has few red feathers in his crest that are completely red.

That is the way mine were too... black color went all the way down the shaft and the red was on the tips. Mine weren't as nice of quality as your boy though... here is a pic of one of him when he was still pretty young...

And here he is again not long before I gave him away...

He did have crazy nice foot feathering tho! LOL

From earlier in this thread: (via Sonoran)
Dominant white bred to a partridge will give you red pyle.

Now other then that I don't know anything about the color, other then it's very pretty~

Kind of funny...I took a pic of some of my newest and when I looked at this avatar I thought "now who got my pictures" Here is my pic, look a lot like Twin Maples pics [sort of]

They were playing in the water so have very wet feet.
HaHa Cheryl! It does look a lot like my avatar pic! Cute chicks! I love paints!!

It's funny, the ones on the left in both your pic and mine are more vaulted than the one on the right... crazy!

If I had the room I would have kept them to see if I could make more of a tri-colored paint bird... more black spots and the red being spots too instead of just on the tips. But alas... there is only room for so many pens. Were you at the Clarion, PA Chickenstock?

I also have a young chick (I was thinking a girl but am worried since all others like this have been male!!!!) who has this 'orange' frosting on her....I think she also came out of a paint egg...and all my silkies are from Catdance also...Karen's silkies are all amazing looking...she is very pretty and I am keeping her...
