When I bought this chicken I was told it is an Old English Game Bantam. But it is neither friendly, docile nor broody it is in fact the polar opposite and now I'm wondering if it is a demon in chicken form or did I maybe get a different breed?? Here is a picture, the flash from the camera stunned her long enough for me to get a few pictures, here is the best one.

anyone want her?

what is rosecomb? Is that a specific breed? Or a throwback to a banshee? I've never heard a chicken shriek like this one. 3 o'clock in the morning "wraaaaaa!!!!!! wraaaaa WRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" we jump out of bed and chase off two raccoons. She'd be a good alarm dog.

Sounds as if she is a flock guardian. Do a forum search on 'rosecomb bantams'. Rosecomb in chickens refers to the shape of her comb. There is a breed - Rosecomb bantams that have rose combs, white earlobes, and upright tails - all of these she has, but her conformation is not 100% rosecomb. Sounds as if she is worth keeping for alarm value.

Agree to the above and have to add that the red leakage on the white earlobe also suggests she is crossed with a red lobed breed.

right, so she's not an OEG (which is what I was looking for and thought I was buying) she's obviously some mix with the Rosecomb Bantam which has the exact temperament I didn't want..... I had no idea about this breed before now, I just thought I was getting a black OEG - live and learn...
