Jezza was still unconscious
Dexter stayed by Jezza and worried. He wished that his dad didn't leave like that. He was actually scared.

Alexander ran as fast as he could. He found an old rusty bucket and got some cold water from a river in it. He also found a cloth. Without spilling much water, Alexander rushed back.

Dexter was relieved to see his dad return. Alexander put everything down and looked Jezza over carefully. He could see where she had hit her head on the tree. He dunked the cloth in the cold water and carefully put it on her injury. "Why are you doing that?" Dexter asked. "It'll help her head, and hopefully wake her up." Alexander responded as he looked Jezza over again. He was looking for any other injuries.

Jezza twitched her paw. She slowly returned to consciousness and let out a low groan. “Did I catch the rabbit?” She asked her voice strained

Alexander's ears perked forward. "No. Is that what you was doing?" He asked looking to see if Jezza lost any memory.

"She's awake!" Dexter exclaimed and started wagging his tail.

She nodded numbly “yes the blasted thing moved at the last second and then it went black”. She shook her head a little but her neck cramped and she whimpered

"Whoa, careful there." Alexander said. He looked her head over. "You seem like your memory is still good." He dunked the cloth in the cold water again and put back on Jezza's head. "Here, lay back down so you don't get dizzy."

Dexter watched his father and learned. He also watched Jezza to see what would happen.

She fought the urge to argue and instead tensely lowered herself backdown biting back half a dozen snappy replies

"Good," Alexander said with a smile obviously unaware of what was going on in Jezza's mind. "Now you just rest there for a couple of minutes so we know that you're ok." He looked Jezza over and added, "Besides your head, does anything else hurt, or anything feel weird?"

“I think I’m okay” she said cautiously, she wouldn’t really know until she attempted to stand

"Ok." Alexander replied. Once it felt like it had been long enough, Alexander said, "If you'd like to stand up, you can, but go up very slowly. If you get up too fast, you could get dizzy."
