I try not to jump in on things like this, so I’ll ask pardon ahead of time. But if you’ve ever been under an emergency evacuation, you’re more worried about saving your family, your most cherished items, and basic necessities— all while tearing your heart out about the things you can’t quickly cram into a vehicle or trailer (like an incubator full of eggs). And evacuation centers aren’t necessarily thrilled with evacuees who make nonessential use of their power. I sympathize so much with impr3 and hope that all is well for them when they return home.

Thank you both for your replies. It's been a tough week, but now we have 6 chicks to make it better! Also, a forecast of rain on Friday

Meet (in order of arrival): Che, Koh, Irri, Fergie, Lu, and Henri. My coworkers are to blame for the names, it's a side effect of keeping a live hatching cam playing on my desk all day . That's Che peering into the camera (s)he was the first to hatch and went from pip to out in under an hour as far as I could tell on camera, feisty little thing.

I'm getting awfully anxious about leaving them all day while we wait for the last 4 to hatch, but the oldest was hatched 10:00am yesterday (and the youngest at 00:40 this morning) so we're comfortably within the timeframe that many folks leave them on the incubator. I've decided against a partial removal as at least one of the remaining eggs appears to have pipped already.
