I know wildlife habitats pretty well. This is what I imagine:

North Yukon, Canada. Close to Alaska.
Low, mossy tundra stretching for several miles between the Arctic ocean (with a rocky beach of course, and some cliff areas for seabirds) and the Boreal forest/Taiga (a lightly wooded area with just the most hardy evergreens and a few willow/alder thickets). Ponds scattered throughout the tundra, and also a larger lake. There's a river running from the Canadian Rockies (several hundred miles away) that runs through the taiga, then the tundra, then finally into the ocean.
