I had a group of army chinooks go over tonight at about tree top altitude! This freaked the heck out of my turkeys and guineas that are free range. Most of the birds flew out of their roosts. I had turkeys spred out over 100 yards from the coop. I rounded up all that I could find but am missing 2. One of them is my fav bronze. I searched everywhere with my night vision and found a RP tom way up in a pine tree. I hope they are just up in a tree somewhere and not on the ground like most were because my Pyreneese has been working overtime in this full moon to keep the cyotes at bay.

Hope the Bronze took his cue from the RP. Air Force used to reimburse for broken windows...

Ours don't pay any attention to the Med Center's Chopper that occasionally makes runs, to points North, directly over our property. They do complain about B-2 bombers. They can hear them coming at night - we can't - infrasound, I guess. Once the planes start dumping fuel into the engines and our windows start vibrating the turks quit gobbling and yelping. Go figure.

I live about 60 miles from Barksdale AFB and am not on the route for the B-52's thank goodness. I am also a firefighter and the life flight choppers are super quiet compaired to a group of chinooks!

Definitely not the best way to find out that the dental work needs tightening up

Well. sunrise was 7:14 this morning and I was watching outside and birds starting comming off the roost about 6:50. By 6:58, everybody was back, I had birds comming from every direction. I am just glad everybody is safe. Those chinooks that low will shake the house and I can't imagine what is going through a turkey brain at night! I don't live on a normal flight path so these birds had never heard anything like this before.
