Seems like the long way around why not just make it legal ?Infact those same representatives drilling her have brought a bill to the table to defund the DEA regarding raids against cannabis patients and dispensaries.

Kind of how people get chickens to their town. You don't instantly ask the city to allow chickens you have to take it slowly with starting out with 1 or 2 chickens then slowly allowing you to get more freedom on how many chickens you can have.Seems like the long way around why not just make it legal ?

I do think it is preposterous that our government is so big that it decides which medicine we are and are not allowed to take.
I don't know which treaties you speak of but I do know that our Government does not trust Canada on any of their choices regarding cannabis so is it like that?Ok so you don't know why they don't make it legal. The reason the federal government cant is because of international treaties. They will need to deal with that first.

You cannot get research funding for a medicine that can be manufactured at home. There is no money for drug companies to sell pot they would be competing with all the folks that grow it.So many of our drug laws end up throwing the baby out with the bath water. Instead of investigating the real pharmaceutical benefits of marijuana and opium, they just make it all illegal and don't deal with it at all. Government logic at its finest. For instance, marijuana has real benefits for the treatment of glaucoma and the nausea caused by chemotherapy. There are other drugs that help alleviate the nausea from chemo, but they are very expensive and do not work nearly as well as pot. Israel has developed a variety of marajuana that retains the pharmaceutical benefits of pot, but won't get the user high. We could have done the same thing if we weren't wearing blinders. That would take allow people who need marijauna to have access to it, and at the same time take the fun out of it for recreational users.
Opium is probably the best pain killer in the world. In Britain, it is given to people with terminal bone cancer, one of the most painful conditions there is. Bone cancer patients on the opium therapy are virtually pain free and able to engage in gardening. The biggest side effect is constipation.
People do not get irritable when not high off of cannabis and try to do things to get their "fix". Cannabis has been found to be less addictive than coffee. When people have cannabis rallies in states where it is legal the cops are there but off to the side and never interfere unless someone is also drunk and being a nuisance. The people who get thrown out of concerts are drunks not stoners. These are questions for the Surgeon General not an enforcement agency.
Medical pot has been legal for years with a prescription. This is just backdoor grandstanding to legalize pot in all uses.
If they want it not enforced Congress needs to make it legal.
Pot is damaging it is a mind altering drug. Anyone that has worked with a pothead already knows what it is like when they are not stoned... they are troublemakers usually irritable and short tempered until they have their fix.
The abuse of the medical pot system should be proof enough.
The government does not raise the sword in vain, the law abiding have nothing to fear of the DEA. The DEA is not going around busting legitimate pot dispensers they are going after the ones taking advantage by not following the rules. Look at the ads for pot cards most are so brazen they just say the price and where to go nothing about treatment or are you sick or do you need to see the doctor or the credentials of the doctor, is he/she a specialist, what field of medicine are they in or anything health related just give us your money we will get you a card.
That has not been my experience but then again working with someone while high has it's problems also. Besides there are two types of people I absolutely will not be around and that is dopers and drunks. I have fired both. I said this before I will say it again... watch a few episodes of COPS that is where my proof lies... and drug use cuts across all demographic and social groups/types. Just because someone is enlightened does not make them able to control the controlling effects of drugs... any drug.People do not get irritable when not high off of cannabis and try to do things to get their "fix".
