The "Ask Anything" to Nicalandia Thread

Uh-huh, but that's still not running all sorts of breeds together and producing pure chicks like you're claiming you do with questionable results. That's outcrossing with a purpose.

But you know what, you keep thinking whatever you want and 'proving your point' with cherrypicked sentences. I think it's time I take a break from this thread again.
I only choose from specific birds from my groups. Half of my birds I don't even hatch from, unless it's for other people, or for food.

My main focuses are on my Malays, Chameleon project, & my Silkies. The extras are mainly layers, & eaters. I have a system, always had for years.
Secondary focuses are my CrackerFowl, & JungleFowl.

There's no cherry picking. Now stop trying to make me sound like a dummy? I was just pointing something out, there's a difference.

I'm stopping, you should too. Please?

I have a pen of Cornish bantams that produced these two. I have dark, homozygous white laced red, blue laced red and heterozygous white laced red (dark mom and wlr dad) hens. I have a blue paint laced red and a white laced red for males.

Would I be correct in guessing the lighter baby is likely white laced red and the darker is likely heterozygous white laced red?

Ignore the darkest chick, it's not a Cornish bantam

What's your thoughts on the Khaki Silkie X BB Red Laughing chicken cross chick that didn't make it to hatch?

The lower portions, show the Blue/Gray of what I see on lavenders, but also has these weird shade of brown stripes.

Parent pictures.

I would guess the difference in the two light chicks is the shade of red (whatever genes modify that), not whether they are heterozygous vs. homozygous for Dominant White. I've seen White Laced Red Cornish Bantams from Ideal Poultry that were redder (darker) or lighter as chicks, and some of them grew up with darker red or a lighter gold shade. There was not a perfect correlation between chick color and mature color, but in general the darker chicks had darker shades of red and larger amounts of red as they grew.

So that is my guess, but I don't know how close to correct it is. I will be curious to see what other people say, and what you learn as they grow older.

Okay. I can't remember what the heterozygous ones looked like as chicks last year, except that they were similar to the white laced reds.
