I did a little studying on this earlier today and the one I was reading listed 5 Japanese breeds as having the gene. Oniagori were the only one I recognized though, there was no mention of pheonixes anywhere

I believe that Phoenix where created using Japanese breed.

So theoretically they could have it hiding in their genetics and my two just happened to both have it and make it visible in their chicks?


If I had a pen of only these Whites, would they only make more Whites? Or would they also have other colored chicks?

Yes, it's a recessive mutation and two recessive whites can only make more white birds.

She has more white, but the chests look somewhat similar. Not sure what dad passed on though to change the pattern to this

How does one breed out shafting? Doesnt all chickens have shafting?
