Stupid question....Silkies are supposed to be genetically white skinned, with fibromelanosis.
It does, I have one like that, that's also crestless currently. Makes earlobes a bright teal/green instead of blue.Stupid question....
So.. homozygous yellow skin with fibromelanosis does not exist?
That seems nice...I have never seen green earlobes. It does, I have one like that, that's also crestless currently. Makes earlobes a bright teal/green instead of blue.
I'll check to see if this Silkie is showing the green earlobes, or not yet, then get pictures to share. That seems nice...I have never seen green earlobes.
Any thoughts about this?Golden salmon Marans have partridge like chicks. They don't have the EB allele, they're wild type in the E allele (e+/e+).
From what I read both parents could be heterozygous (ER/e+) but I'm not sure.
The breeder from where the eggs came said that it was the first time that one hatched like this. And I personally saw the eggs being collected from a closed pen, so I know they're Marans and not a cross.
Yes, shank pigmentation is a sex link traitWait, sexlink through leg color?
It Does, but the Fibromelanosis will not be expressed. An Id/Id, Fm/Fm male will have yellow/White shanks and skinStupid question....
So.. homozygous yellow skin with fibromelanosis does not exist?
The same principle applies to what I said about ER/eWh birds. ER/e+ birds aŕe indistinguiable from ER/ER, also ER/eWh x ER/e+ will produce e+/eWh chicksAny thoughts about this?

And is it possible to predict what they would look like?.......also ER/eWh x ER/e+ will produce e+/eWh chicks
