The BANTAM ORPINGTON Thread

Hey Don, No I aint hatched anything yet this time, but it wont be long.
Roger those actually look like a replica of the LF. The problem I see with so many bantam Orps is they don't look like Orps at all unless your in to poor quality. Yours have nice tails. No pinch tail there. I don't like the ones that are unbalanced either having great big breast but are narrow in the backside. Here lately I have been seeing some really good quality Bantam Orps. I have been to shows before where I had to read on the card that is was a Orpington. I couldnt tell by looking at it. That is a shame. But wow , I have been seeing some really good ones . The show I went to in Pensacola, Fl had a gorgeous pair of Buff Bantams. I saw them across the room and said to my DH look at those Orpingtons.

Charles I a sure am hoping to go. I will know tomorrow if I can do it. Had surgery on my eye last Monday and so if Dr says I can I plan to be there and possibly show a choc pullet bantam. I may bring some Choc chicks and a few pullets to sell. Hey now if you want to bring that black LF Cock of yours and let me bring him home with me I can breed him to my black hens and get you a ton of chicks. Or if you want to sell him back to me. I love that Black Cock. Ha ha

ok, I had to take some pictures of my little loves. I have 2 blue roos covering 3 blue girls and 2 black girls.

Beautiful! These pint sized Orpingtons are really starting to grow on me.

Your hens seem to have lovely lacing! Do you have any closer pictures of them to see detail?

Where did you get your birds?

Thank you I adore them and I am SO pleased with how they are turning out. I got them from Aarron Hunsinger here in PA. And I am honestly not sure who he got his from. Here are a couple of shots I cut in close.

My son is planning on showing them in 4H this year and he is hoping we hatch out a splash. I really love the blues, although my black girls are growing on me!

Nice lacing!!!

Don, are they doing that to improve type and color? I dont have room to do these things but always room to learn. Some of those bantams are just amazing type..they have a tidy look ..nice combs ,eyes ,tails ...It must not be that hard to bring the size back up.
I have never crossed a bantam to a std. I just raise them together in a brooder for 6 to 8 weeks and split them up.
