The BANTAM ORPINGTON Thread

Purchased these Buff Orpington Bantams back in August 2013. They will be 24 weeks old tomorrow , Wednesday, Feb, 05, 2014. Just beginning to lay small bantam size eggs. in this sub freezing weather.

Few months back I picked up 6 chocolates all under 8 months old. 2 roos rest pullets for $40. I ate the big ugly roo and 1 pullet passed but the other's r doin awesome! Crossing them with my cochin bantam calicos. Then gonna breed for more pures. I love them and they r very sweet!

I don't handle my Bantams, but when I'm in their pen, these Orpingtons come right to me. They even jump on my knee as seen here. Very gentle and friendly birds.

I may offer eggs by request. I have never had much luck with shipped eggs(being on the receiving end), so am kind of leaning towards not regularly selling hatching eggs. But if you would rather try your luck with eggs, I would be willing to ship them. I can definitely ship chicks and older though once temps are more stable.

Do you have any chicks at present? I'm in Gonzales, LA and would drive down to get them. Have 4 orps out of 27 chickens, but always wanted bantam orps. I also have seramas, so understand bantams have somewhat different needs. Color is of no importance to me. Thanks!

My hatching eggs have only been in for 5 days now, but I just had to candle them. Wish I hadn't! I can't see ANYTHING in my chocolate bantam eggs! :( Now I'm nervous.
