Rog, nice chocs, my females are nicer than the males, or it takes the males longer to grow out. On most bantams, or mine it seems they all grow out about same. I'm going to get some pics one of these days. How did the little chocs ture out that I sent you? I'll tell you one thing, when people find out you got chocs they all want a deal. People have other people call because they don't think I'll sell any or give them one. I do like mine, and like Julie, I hope to show some this fall.
They are turning out real good Don only ended up with one choc. color pullet, The rest are black & are looking great, & so are the black bantams I got from you, gona try to show a few soon.Rog, nice chocs, my females are nicer than the males, or it takes the males longer to grow out. I got a call from a good friend in Texas and he said that Buff Orp did get DQ at Shawnee, I'm sorry I was wrong. It never happened in the open show, it was the junior show. I didn't keep up with junior show back then. The only ABA show that I ever went to in Oklahoma was at Claremore, I had just got bantam orps then and didn't show any. I know Ralph didn't make that show and Mr. Buff Orp Bantam was there and won, Roger Vanderpolgee (sp), in the standard Herting won BB on a pullet and my 2 nd pullet was RB. Roger is the only person to get a Master on buff orps only. That can be checked in the ABA records. I was lucky and got to buy 2 pair from him the next year. I crossed them on my Warren Tye birds. All of my start of orp bantams came from Warren.

A dream!!Would not have been my bird. I never showed in the junior show at Shawnee. Always the open show. Won Best of Breed Orpington Bantam every year I showed except the ABA show that Ralph Brazelton won. The year my male was DQ, my hen won.
First time I met Ralph Brazelton was at Shawnee, OK. Can't recall if it was the APA or ABA National. I think it was the ABA. It was about 1983 or so. Ralph sold me the Reserve Breed Buff Orpington bantam, a pullet. It was the next year that he sold his bantams to Warren.
Cat, it's hard to tell anything looking down on a bird. I like to see a good side view, If you can look at a orp pic in the standard, you can see the whole picture. Myself I like to look where his neck hooks onto his top and look at the line running to tail. That guy on the right might be might be pinched, could be a feather deal. These are just my thoughts, I sure Mr, Leonard can get you the real info. He is on here from time to time.I need some guidance on what is the ideal topline, when looking at a bantam Orp from the top. The first pix with two roos shows the one on the left has smoother lines where the saddle feathers fall over the wings than the one on the right. The second picture shows one roo that isn't badly pinched/indented, but it does show a closer picture of the point I'm trying to make, which is the indentation. Which am I supposed to be breeding for, or is it of insignificant importance? Thank you.
. What is correct and what should I be breeding for? Thank you.
