The BANTAM ORPINGTON Thread

No, She is one of the pure blacks, she is the best one I think, I ended up with 3 of these pullets & I love em I was going to show her last weekend but her tail was a little frade from laying in a nest box so I didn't take her this time but she will be going after she molts the first time, at what age do they start to molt ?
I have her single matted right now to the pure black roo. I got from you, but so far nothing fertile, just trimmed her today though & touched him up to.
Nice type and her size looks about right. Some folks think my black bantams are to big. I have done fairly good showing them.

English are shorter, rounder, and fluffy - like a basketball with a head and feet. American are usually taller and more sleek - like a racehorse. At least that's the way it was explained to me by a breeder.

Don,

Have a few chocs and black/splits on the ground now. Only a couple hens laying. I have had good fertility from the eggs I am getting, no trimming either.

No stubs so far!!!!! I plan to put the girls in with the pure english bird in a month or so to see how the chicks turn out from him.

Thanks for your help in February.

Wow!! I was pretty certain I wanted as English Orp, But then I found you guys! Newbie stupidity, I didn't realize there was a smaller version. I am so excited for this. My DH says the LF Eng Orp is way too big for our coop. Are they the same sweet temperament? And where in New England can I get a really nice Bantam English Orp???
