Here's what the mottle look like when young, this one has lost some but not all mottling. Have others growing out and will cross them when old enough.

ps- everyone in this group carries the mille gene, it's just going to be selective breeding.

How did you get them in the first place - meaning what colors were used to be gin with to create them? Just curious!

I just happened to come across the right cockerel to start the project with and then cross him with different hens thus creating what you see. I am on F3's & F4's and two years in.

Black tailed buffs are the base color for the Mille Fluer coloring, If you cross them with a black mottled bird then you should get some MF out of that breeding.

I am just counting my blessings that I have been able to come this far, knowing that bantam orps are in such limited numbers and colors.
