I know Barred Rocks have the light spots on the heads and the dark on the legs.
Does anyone know if this carries over to other Barred breeds such as Cochins?
I just hatched out 2 eggs from my Cochin pen, I was testing fertility, I had pretty much thought these eggs were from my barred hen but was not 100% sure. She tends to lay in rotation on the nests so hard to pin down which are hers. The Dominate Roo in that pen is barred.
Both of the chicks have little light spots on their heads, I haven't gotten a good overall look as they are still in the hatcher.
Just wondering if I can go by the same rules for guessing male or female as in Barred Rocks?

They will follow the barred rule, and no, you can't autosex them as it was the rooster that's barred, so, depends what other colour you have in there.

The ones that are laying are 2 Black hens, one silver laced hen and the barred hen. I do believe that these 2 chicks are from the barred hens eggs. Which if so, and the sexing works the same as with barred rocks then they chould both be females.
