The Beach House - Work in progress

We needed to have a secure roosting space for our turkeys, Thanks-Giving (Chocolate Tom at rear) and XMas (Bourbon Red Hed in front). I added a few fence panels to the left of our coup but we needed a space that was secure for them as well, so we put together a nursery box for them (work in progress).

The coup needs to have the roof shingles and siding completed and lifted up but is pretty much predator proof right now.

I will post some updates once we have completed it.

Turkeys prefer to roost as high as possible. Mine prefer 30 ft in the trees until it's -20f. Then most will go in the walk in hoop coops
10 square foot in coop and 100sqft in run per bird.
they tend to lay wherever you don't want them to.

That is way too small and not appropriate housing for turkeys. Turkeys need much more room than chickens need.

They will free range with the chickens when they are out of quarantine. phase 1 they are in the coup in isolation. They get locked in the box at night so they don’t get eaten.
this weekend they get To roam a larger area where the chickens can see them and they can see the chickens. And finally they will allowed to intermingle

The box is too small for them. They are not chickens.

That box would be big enough for a hen to brood in for a couple weeks with 4 poults....if she chose to use it.
It's definitely not big enough.

The Turkeys have loads of room. They are now hanging out with the majority of the chickens. They roost in their coop at night by themselves.
