I know! I've only been feeding him just over a week but he's already perching on my hand a few seconds longer each day. Stanley didn't totally scare him off thankfully as he came back for more this afternoon.

I think Gammas Bearded Babies' s Joey's foot problems are catching! I noticed Ferdy's feet looked a bit sore a couple of days ago so I've been trying to keep them clean and putting barrier cream on before he goes out in a morning. It's not easy as everything is so wet and/or muddy at the moment, Tonight I pulled a lump of dried mud off his 2nd toe while I was washing it. Only it wasn't. It was a scab over a broken quill. It bled like mad but I've managed to staunch it with cornflour and antibiotic powder. He doesn't seem too bothered by it but I hate the thought I've caused him pain.
Awe poor guy ... I hate that!
Lizzy had something strung off the bottom of her foot...I'm still not quite sure what it was. I had 3 grandbabies with me...so I gave it a little tug. She didn't flinch so pulled harder and got it off in two sections. Really weird...she didn't act like it hurt but now u got me wondering if I made it bleed....I didn't go back and check!

You've been feeding a real Robin wild bird that perches on ya?!?

I am, it's the 3rd one I've managed to 'tame' over the years. The 1st one, Bobbins, was by far the tamest. He used to sleep in a teacup on my bedroom windowsill and followed me all over the property. Then I fed Ray Ray for 4 winters, he got in the Christmas Tree one year and destroyed the fake robin I'd had since I was 5 years old... and now the new one who is un-named as yet. It only took 2 days for him to start eating from my hand, fastest one yet!

They get all sorts stuck on their feet with all those feathers, don't they? I'm quite paranoid about keeping a check on them. Clara had a mild case of bumblefoot when she was just 4 months old. I caught it early and got it under control and 🤞it's never come back. The girls hate getting their feet looked at, you'd think I was trying to murder them, the racket they make!

@Shetland lover that is insane bout the wild birds! Very cool though!!! I have always had a fondness for birds! I guess that's why I went so head over heels for my feathered feet chickens like I have!!!
They do act like they are being murdered half the time I try to check stuff on em...only a couple will let me do pretty much anything to em and not scream - Joey and Lizzy!!!
Speaking of them...they would so make gorgeous babies but Bluey and Lizzy are inseparable and so in luv! Idk how I could ever do that to em!!!

Welp baby cochins are two weeks old and my first suspect have a comb popped up! I knew it lol...he a boy! There's one more I'm questioning that may be but no sign yet but very early still.
They are extremely rambunctious and flighty so I'm in a quandary bout whether I should move em on down to the big brooder and keep the not quite 1 week old Silkies in the house another week or not.
I don't wanna risk em losing the closeness they have developed with each other and it be like starting all over again with em though then them getting picked on...
Decisions decisions!

Sounds like Ferdy and Clara! He even escorts her to the nest box and sits with her while she lays. Pity she's his mom so no eggs get hatched from that pairing!

I had two wild hedgehogs as pets for about 8 years. One, Hector, dislocated a hind leg trying to escape garden netting and decided not to leave when he healed and the other, Althea, lost a hind leg and had brain damage from maggots eating through her ear canal so couldn't be returned to the wild. My vet asked me to take her as he knew he had Hector. I'm hopeless. I love all animals!

Ok...yall think it is safe to say just one boy in these 4 cochin babies!?
Any suggestions as to colors of em? The breeder hasn't been a lot of help I'm afraid.

Yeah, I only see one definite cockerel in the mix so far. They look like they're Black / maybe Blue?, Mottled, and Blue Mottled to me. The ones with white feathers are the Mottled ones. Are these the ones that were supposed to be Lavender and Chocolate or something like that?
