Yall got some beautiful girls growing out nicely! They are 13 weeks old.
Lila is a Lavender/Black... she has a tip on each wing that is white!

And Stormie...I was thinking she is a splash but I'm questioning that as she could be mottled...of course I lost track of the egg she hatched from so there were a few possibilities. I also think the breeder could have mislabeled a few eggs so anything is possible lol.
What are yalls thoughts?!

They’re all mad at me. I got everyone redistributed to the appropriate breeding pen’s yesterday. They are pissed! On a happy note, I should have some new chick pics in about a week and a half.

Awe I'm sorry! I finally got the go ahead from DH to add on a honeymoon suite to my coop! So mine will be mad at me soon too lolol!

Oh Stormie is stunning!!!! I’m leaning mottled too, that was my first thought that popped in my head

Stormie's a Blue Mottled! With mottling, their juvenile feathering is typically white-fronted with a solid colored back like that. As she molts out her juvenile feathering and replaces it with her adult feathering, she'll look more like what you'd expect from Mottled.


As for my birds, we're all good here as normal. My Chocolate cockerel's gotten a bit too big for his britches so he's been separated from the flock for a week or so now to cool his jets. I've been waiting on a good snowstorm to move birds around so that they won't be anticipating free-range time and perhaps be less antsy in their new arrangements, but we're having an unusually warm January and haven't had snow since December of course.

It’s been a difficult end of year and I’m really hoping the new year will be kind to us! Christmas night I came down with influenza A, almost all the kids got it too. I’m just barely starting to not feel deathly exhausted. So frustrating when I wanted to enjoy the kids’ time off from school and the beautiful weather. We tried to keep up with the chickens, but ended up losing the bantam buff Brahma to something. Whatever ate her left no signs aside from feathers behind the shed. No tracks, no feather trail, I looked all outside our yard in the field for hints of what took her. I feel so bad that I failed her!
