Sorry if I’m posting too much in this thread. Lately I have had a reignited adoration for my Bantam cochins. Not to say I normally dislike them, but I have a lot of birds and aside from breeding plans and general care, don’t spend as much time fawning over them as might be necessary.. My Bantam cochins have been very cute lately. I’m also sorry for rambling on. These birds are really wonderful.
Since I exiled my rooster to living with the largefowl flock for scratching up back feathers, my (mostly)Bantam cochin pen has turned into a “broody mamas and babies” pen. That meaning; a day or two ago I had two hens go double broody on me. These hens are very adamant about being mothers and a pain to break, so I decided to let them sit. They’ve got 14 eggs between the two of them and I might sneak more under tomorrow.. I also have an ayam cemani hen who decided to brood. Probably going to shove Bantam cochin eggs under her too, because I have a stockpile of old ones and don’t have incubator space.

The frizzled hen(Confetti Cake) has still been semi-invested in her last brood until now. Her two teenage sons I kept back were nosing around the broody pile. This has been something they’ve done before, I think they find comfort in being around big hens. Just a few days ago at night I’d see them snuggling under their mother.

Also in the coop I have a partridge cochin bantam hen with her brood of chicks. Growing these out to hopefully keep a few good red ones back.

I’m on a lot of Facebook poultry sites 😆 Plus poultry shows and 4-H and feed stores. This Expo is only the second they’ve done here and it’s about 5X big than last years! :)

I wish you lived closer too!! Not just to pawn off a rooster or two on haha 😉 Bobtails might be the softest feathers I’ve ever felt on a Cochin…they’re really such gorgeous Cochins. I just want a pullet again tooooo 😫
Ah...I just can't take Facebook drama lol!
I left the mille fleur breeding group I was in even. So back to only using it to learn or sell!
They do have the softest feathers! I just LUV their chunky booties and thighs!!!
even if when ya hold em its all floof!

There are never too many posts! Especially when they come with pictures of cute broodies and their beebies! 😍 Looks like you are in full on brood mood! 😍

I only have one broody cochin and no broody silkies right now 😳 But I do have two giant Orpingtons and my blue Ameraucana stuffed into one nest box 😆

When they do that do they "bawk" like they are being killed or gonna kill!?!
My d'uccles r absolutely the loudest little turds I've ever seen to be so tiny!!!
They kill me how many they can cram into such a small space .... when there's soooooo much room elsewhere! 😆

Mine mainly growl and groan at me 😆 But when they come out for a break with their hair on fire, they make a lot of noise 😆😆 My d’Uccles are actually only loud before they lay an egg, but they are very loud for such tiny creatures 😆😆

I just find the piles of broody chickens all crammed in one box to be one of the more hilarious things chickens do 😆😆 it’s so funny and cute!

One of my new bobtail pullets…fingers crossed they stay alive! 😫 I got 2, 8 weeks old! Now I have 3 boys and 2 girls and one that’s still too young to tell! Fingers crossed for another girl!! 😵‍💫 I’ve had several Cochins now, and I have to say bobtails are definitely my favorite 😍 the boys are super gentle and the girls are so sassy and chatty but not mean. ❤️❤️
