Just popping in to see what everyone thinks now about what breed & what gender or if it's still too early. I'm leaning towards pullet b/c I want her to be a her lol.

are you sure it's five weeks...? is it a standard chick...? my oegb's are all feathered up at 5 weeks, and you can tell right away the roosters from the hens...

the comb and waddles don't look red enough for me to say roo for sure, but the size of it sure does... so i'm leaning towards a roo more than a hen...

I'm actually not sure how old this little thing is, it was a rescue by a friend of mine and they were SO TINY! The solid black one didn't make it.

According to the local hatchery, they thought it was 2 weeks old when I showed it to them around March 7. I was under the impression from my friend that this little one was a week or less old on March 6. SO if you go towards what the hatchery estimates, yes, 5 weeks. If you go by what my friend had said, it's just over 3 weeks.

I don't know what to think lol. Everyone here thinks it's an EE, one chicken lover on Maui things BBR, the hatchery says BBRed (I guess that's the same thing).

I guess it's just a wait and see kind of thing which I am never good with.

LOL! I know, right? This little thing has been the subject of SO MANY discussions about ways to determine gender. I am stumped b/c I don't have an "eye" for gender and I'm not 100% on all the different things to look at. The lack of comb and wattles just leaves me

lol. It also has such skinny legs and the feathers on its lower back are not pointy. I think.
