The Best Breed of Rooster

There is absolutely no right answer. :D Any breed (or mix) is capable of being agressive. Although if I was going off of looks, I say a Blue Laced Red Wyandotte!

Not all Roos are going to risk their lives for the hens against predators, but a Bantam for sure couldn’t hold off anything very big... so I would think you should try a largefowl rooster. :)

In my experience game fowl roosters have been the least human aggressive and most flock protective roosters. The down side is that they can not readily be maintained with other roosters in the flock.

The rooster you are looking for can be any breed or mixed breed.
You are looking for the right personality, and that differs even in the same breed.
Any breed someone lists here can also be someone elses nightmare breed.
How you interact with your rooster after you get him home also will determine how he does. In the long run.
The roosters that have worked out for me are the ones i dont attemp to befriend. They keep a respectiful distance between us and i only handle them after dark to treat injuries, trim spurs or check for mites.
You may have to try out several before you find the right fit.
Good luck in your search!
