The best lgd

A little off topic, but how does the Pyrenees handle a pack of wolves? Or do they ever run into that situation> We've had some folks in our area with those dogs and they could not keep them home. One man totally lost his two. They just left roaming.

My little dog is 62 lbs and has chased a cougar, but he's no fighter. Just can't see him and a coyote or wolf.

Thanks again, but we don't have wolves here. At least I've never seen one. The biggest predator is a coyote, but they only come out at night when the girls are tucked away in the barn. There are rare bear sightings but if anyone in the neighborhood sees one an alert goes online. That's happened twice in 3 years.

I have 2 Maremmas, 95 & 110 lb respectively. I have 2 because of predator pressure where we live. They cover the goats, sheep calves, chickens and me. Just one dog wouldn't be successful at our place, predators could bait him away while the others nabbed my livestock. These guys one will push the stock up into a corner and guard them while the other confronts the predator. If the wolf packs make it down here, I don't know what we'll do. Two dogs is no match for a pack like that!

All I can say is "WoW!" My mtn curs dont look like they could match that!
I dont have wolves here, but I have heard of coyotes packing up to against a couple of, or a pack of dogs.
Next of kin to a cur is a Fiest, which comes from the the word feisty, which is a cross (rat X russell) to the terrior you have, P-Funk. My sister had a fiest named Ozzie, & he was 1 cool dog. Lived 15 years, would know when we showed up on the mtn, come visit us, then would hike 7 miles to my sister's other house. He was 1 mean killer to possum, coon, etc.
Here's to the dogs that protect our'n!!

Trailchick, he's awefully fiesty and so far has a mouse, rat and the cutest little bunny under his belt

Petey, that picture bears a striking resemblance to the scene I had in Breckenridge. When the neighbors ENORMOUS dogs ran up to the window over the kitchen sink it usually caused me to drop something fragile.

Had extremely close encounters with bears on that porch. Beautiful dog, though, P

My dogs are total control freaks and have to know where I am. If I go to the boss' house, the show up and peek in every window til they see I'm all right then go back to the pasture! Worse than my mother was!!
