The best medicated feed for newly hatched chicks?

I started mine off with Manna Pro Chick Starter grower though the TSC where I am only had those in 5lb bags so I switched them over to Kalmbach Feeds Chick Starter which comes in both medicated and non-medicated (for abt $14 for a 25 lb bag). Whether or not these are the ~best~ brands I think is just something you figure out for yourself, but my girls gobbled this stuff up like nobody's business! :D

Thank you! Was the Manna Pro Chick Starter OK? And should I feed them medicated or non-medicated?

Yes they loved it it was just not sustainable for my wallet or my time to keep going back for more bags because they ate a lot in very little time (growing kids am I right?)...I did both medicated and non medicated just based on what was available at my feed store at the time and I haven't noticed a difference

The best medicated feed for chicks is what your local feed sells the most of.
This will ensure that it is always fresh feed on their shelf.

For real though...almost all chick starter medicated feeds are pretty much the same when it comes to nutritional value... So choose one that you can easily get.

The medicated part in medicated feed only helps to prevent coccidiosis. It's not even guaranteed to prevent it.
The 'medicated' part does absolutely nothing else.
