The best medicated feed for newly hatched chicks?

I choose to feed medicated starter because I feel it gives them a little protection early in life, but it's not absolutely necessary. I've fed Manna Pro's chick starter with good results, but the 5lb bags are expensive over time. My go-to would be Purina Start & Grow medicated - everyone has always seemed to love it! If the crumbles are too big at first, serve it in bowls as a wet mash. Oh, and they don't need grit until you start introducing other foods, like veggies or bugs.
