right now i have a silkie pullet and am getting 6 chicks and 1 gosling (she will live with the chicks). i don't have the coop done yet (the silkie is living in a dog house) but when it is done do you think that it would be best to put the chicks and the silkie in the coop all at the same time so they don't fight over territory, or to put the silkie in for a few days and then carefully introduce the chicks and gosling in the coop by putting them on the roost at night when she is sleeping?

This is what we do: put them all in a small box or carrier for a bit (an hour or so) so they are all in a strange place. Then place them all in the coop together so they will really be confused and not worry about who was there first, then they will sort out the pecking order later. Good luck to you.
