SRI - yep, it fits. Just be careful you don't get to the point you start to stink. Because then you become compost. I won't even feed you to the chickens!

I think that Ranchhand nailed it. Complete to removing all chicks and then returning them to the frantic mom all at the same time. She may not even notice that the SRC has just returned.

on the other hand momma may be thrilled to have time away from the chicks and NOT want them back.

Mama "Doe" has her SRC back now. I had to hide to watch, because mama was alot more keen on the idea than Rowdy was. According to his loud peeps and the way he frantically tried to squeeze through the bars of the crate to get back to me, I was abandoning him.

I stayed out there long enough, freezing my turtles off, to see Doe "settle" back down on the chicks, including Rowdy.

Of course I'll be going out there about once an hour, or more often, to make sure things continue to go well.
