It took a while - almost 2 weeks. The big girls finally figured out how to go up the ladder and put themselves to bed.

I was away a week and the kids kept putting starter crumbles on the ladder. The girls from 4 weeks now 6 weeks started to go up and down the ladder but would sleep in a corner of the run when the sun went down.

Officially, as of last night, the girls marched themselves up the ladder on their own. Remedial lessons finally worked!!!!! Now I have to encourage them to sleep on their roosting pole and not the nest boxes -

Any suggestions?

Jx FL - just starting to sink in that the girls are not the brightest crayons in the box.
Cute but not bright!

Fence off the nexting boxes. They are too young to need them anyway. We stapled chicken wire over the nesting boxes and the girls went right to the roosts once the boxes were fenced off.
