That ameraucana has a very girly face! I hope it's a she! Nice buncha javas too. They have got to be the prettiest chicks that hatch from anything I have. The really stand out, don't they? LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the barnevelders!!!!!!

Yup, a black orpington just hatched, so 1 black, 1 lav, 6 more orp eggs to go.
BCMS have 6 pips in the 18 eggs left in
1 barnevelder egg hanging out, no pip

So count my hatch against all the eggs, started with 70
59 made it to day 21

32 have hatched so far
have 6 pips going in the 24 left in the incubator

11/29 BCMs - 6 pips - (11/32)
5/5 mottled java - (5/6)
1/1 Ameraucana - (1/1)
2/2 olive eggers - (2/2)
11/12 barnevelder - (11/24)
2/8 lav/black Orpingtons - (2/9)

vB is the line of barnevelders developed by Christina Ledford, aka Peaceofthyme
KC is a line she developed by trading eggs with Julie Gabbard

I love the vB line. Christina has a KC roo she is using right now so the chicks are vB/KC lines of barnevelder

It is so fun to take pics of the chicks
I keep putting them together and they keep charging me because I'm at chick level when I take the pics
they are running at my face or sometimes trying to climb the towel up to the back of the chair.
it cracks me up

Ok here are pics of the Black Copper Marans, these are straight from Wade Jeane
I love their little penguin suits

OnTheSpot, the second orp to hatch looked black coming out but is looking maybe blue to me now. Not as light so far as the lav, but not a black chick either.
I'll post pics later. They are still in the incubator. Is blue a possibility? or is this most likely a darker lav chick?

okok Grats on your new chickies! I want some soo baddddd.. you guys are a bad influence i went from i just want a few laying hens ,to wanting to hatch my own to maybe i can swing more then 15 chickens... to UG.. poor DH... he needs to go buy more lumber for more coops...addictive this chicken habit...lol

I'll be interested to hear what onthespot says. I hope you are right.
She bred black to lav on this chick, so it was a black/lav split
hope that means anything not black is lav.
if that is true, I have two lav chickies
