The Biggest Adventure EVER! Incubating chicks in school PICTURES!

I kind of suspected that! My question is about some the newer post. How did you monitor the eggs during the weekend?

Most schools have a janitor on staff even on weekends. You might be able to get permission from the Principal to enter the school once each weekend day to check on the eggs. But if you make sure that the incubator isn't plugged into an outlet that can be turned off by a switch and have an auto turner there really is no reason to check it over the weekend; just the last thing on Friday and first thing on Monday should do the trick.

That sounds good! I will ask my teacher about the outlet thingy.

I had worries about that. The eggs are in the turner and my teacher said he'll check on them during the inservice and when he stays late.

If your hen was hatching these eggs for you, unless you were very lucky you wouldn't see the eggs for 21 days, right?
So don't worry. They are fine.

LOL thanks. TEMP WONT GO DOWN! It stays consistantly at 102 degrees F and I cant turn the knob down any more. We had to open a bator window and pray for it to stay down!

Our class was supposed to build a rain garden, but the district took away most of that money, so now we have a few 100 left. Some friends and I are trying to talk her into it. Any tips if you don't mind me asking?

I'm trying to get my science techer to allow us to hatch eggs because in grade school no one had enough money to buy an incabator

Same here. Candling is tomorrow!

I am doing a project here running up and down the country (Ireland) for primary level kids (aged 7 to 13) and have written a project book for each scool. The idea is parents/older students take in teir own incubator and eggs and teach the kids how it all works. I have worked with silkiechicken (who did the cool candling through incubation sticky at the top of this forum) to get the handbook just right. It costs nothing if you want a copy, just pm me and I will return a copy of it by email.

My little 'good deed' for raising interest in poultry keeping!!
