CHAPTER 2

After a long, long night, dawn finally arrived. The biggest little rooster started his crowing as soon as he saw light in the sky. He is new to crowing, and not very good at it. But he stood as tall as his short little temporary run would allow, and held himself proud, and er-er-eerrrr'd as loud as he possibly could. ( Being he is new to crowing, he doesn't yet realize he needs 5 "err"s to make it an official crow. Or maybe he just wants to be different, because the medium little roo does a 5 err crow. )
The biggest little roo crowed his little heart out. He knows he is directy outside the humanlady's bedroom, and hopes to wake her. He needs her to make sure his beautiful ladies made it safe through the night. Today things are a little different, though, because the humanguy came out.
The rooster watched the humanguy walk across the yard. He couldn't wait. In just a minute he was going to get a glimse of his beautiful ladies!!!! And look.. oh There they are!!! Just a minute later, the shed door was opened, and the rooster was free!!!
Today, he didn't even look twice at his little flock. He ran right back to his ladies, and fussed over them through the fence. He told them how much he missed them, and wished he could be with them all night long. Then he encouraged them to hurry up and pay the rent so they could come out with him.
He left them alone for a little while to give them privacy to get the rent, and ran all about checking on his little flock. By this time they were already done landscaping the right hand neighbors yard.
What seemed like days later, the Ladies were finally let out! The biggest little rooster went to greet them, and dance for them. He wanted them to know believe he was worthy of their love. All 5 ran over to the older neighbors yard, and the rooster helped them find the best of the treats.
Later, as he was checking up on his little flock, one of the Ladies came to him. She walked right through the little flock and up to the biggest little rooster. She whispered sweet nothings in his white ear, and the rooster excused himself from his flock. He and the lady went behind a bucket for a private moment together. Oh, he had 2.7 seconds of pure heartfelt bliss!!!
Later in the day, left-side neighbor 1 had some REAL landscapers come in to remove some bushes. Oh my, the ladies were excited. So many new bugs to chase, fresh dirt to bathe in. The rooster did not join in. He had to stand by and watch. You never knowwhat human landscapers might do. They might chickennap the ladies for cheap landscaping labor. Or worse yet, they might have a craving for chicken dinner!! So he couldn't partake in the bugfest. A mans job is sometimes so hard.
Before he knew it, time flew so fast, and the sky was starting to turn

This time, though, as he walked sadly to his shed, the beautiful ladies followed. Oh My !!! Could it be they felt the same way about him?

The rooster played it cool. He didn't want to seem to anxious. He went into the shed to get his little flock settled ( because they are younger, they go to bed a little earlier than the Ladies). He stood at the door and the ladies were only 20 feet away!

He watched as they got their little snacks before bedtime. He loved the way they walked. He tried to listen, because he thought he heard them talking about him. He stood there and admired them, wishing he could go to them. He wanted to be a gentleman and walk them home. But his little flock depended on him, so once again, he sighed and headed into the shed. He took one last look back, and saw the beautiful ladies disappear into the darkness into their run.

Only 10 hours of waiting, and he could see the loves of his life again..
