The Biggest Little Rooster -- grandchickies on the way!!

Moonshine and GTS both have eggs in the classroom bator and they are good! We just took them out of the turner, they are due on Wednesday night or Thursday morning. GTS has 4 eggs and Moonshine has 6 in there!

It was a tough decision, but Hardy went to a new home. There is a man who took our buff orp rooster and his little girlfriend- the last of the Texan crew. When he came to get the rooster, he really wanted Hardy, but of course we wouldn't give our Hardy boy up.
The big girls were still getting torn up. Two of them have completely bald heads. More have missing feathers . They were unhappy, and Hardy was unhappy. I really felt he could have a better life if he could just find girls who liked him. The kitty is the only one who'd go near Hardy ( and Hardy wasn't all that fond of the kitty). I really felt bad- Hardy tried to be a good boy, but he just couldn't control himself when with the girls. I would look out, and see Hardy standing all by himself, and it was just a sad sight.
As it turned out, the buff rooster was killed in a dog attack. And the man who owned him missed him terribly. He was excited to hear Hardy was looking for a new home. I was excited because I know Hardy will be in good hands- and he will have 28 gals to charm.
So, we said goodbye. Hardy did not cause a fuss. It was like he knew he was going to have a chance to be happy. I told him he better be nice to the new girls, and to make his daddy proud.

Kate, that is so cool about the eggs. Did the girls give up on being broody?
The Biggest Little Rooster will be a grandpaw!! I bet he would be thrilled to know his grandbabies are part of a classroom, helping kids learn and enjoy the miracle of life!!

I just spent a week reading all 74 pages... and WOW what a wonderful story, I laughed, cried, jumped for joy and was glued to the computer for a LONG time.

You have an amazing talent for writing and I highly enjoyed this... I felt like I was actually there WITH the BLR.

You think with Hardy's looks and attitude he might have actually been Weeman's love child?

I would have liked to see stories from the "cousins".

I'm glad I found this story at the end as I would have been WAY too impatient to wait for each new chapter... lol.

So is this it? Is the story over? If so there should be a "final" chapter.... It would give all of us who are following closure.

Thank you for such a wonderful and touching story.

I am glad you enjoyed it. I couldn't come up with a final chapter. I think the story really ended when the Biggest Little Rooster met the neighbors dog. For the most part, I watched the chickens, and what they did inspired the story. Once he was gone, there wasn't much inspiration.
BUT.. just recently, I have been looking t my other rooster- my little Frizzle bantam cochin/D'Uccle Barney.. and a new story is brewing... Big Bad Barney and the Frizzle Gang. I have a feeling he could be as enjoyable to read about as the Biggest Little Rooster, in a totally different way.

Oh, and Hardy couldn't be WeeMans love child- WeeMan had been gone too long to still have his essence around.

Thank you. I was up until 5:30am reading and then read again today. I cried so hard last night reading this! I'm really glad to hear the Biggest Little Rooster has left such a wonderful legacy. You are a truly talented writer. Again, thank you.

And Merry Christmas to all the big and little roosters out there who care for their ladies!

Thank you! It's funny you should post this today- just yesterday I was reading through some of the story- and he odd thing is that even though I wrote it, I enjoy reading it. I miss the big guy, and Hardy. We recently lost a girl to some sort of predator that tried to pull her through the fence. I wonder what the Biggest Little Rooster would have done...
