Anyone like to share a African, Asian or South American biotope aquarium? If so, this thread is for you. Have you kept a biotope aquarium before? A biotope aquarium is an aquarium that replicates a fish's or fishes' natural habitat in the wild with the sympatric aquatic flora that goes with it. Examples include a whitewater river area, the Rift Lakes of Africa and a rice paddy in Southeast Asia. The possibilities are endless with biotope aquaria. You just need to select the correct species of fish and plants that live in a habitat from one of the continents mentioned.

Have fun!

I've technically attempted one. Lots of twigs and branches, botanicals and mulm at the bottom, salvynia at the top. You'd find betta spendens there. I did not get my hands on betta splendens, but the aquarium did house a domestic betta splendens male. Had a java fern in there, so for that, you'll have to excuse me. Still a plant found in Thailand, but not one found in the puddles where betta splendens are found
