The blasted neighbor cat tried to kill one of our keets.

That's funny. Yes, negative association does work well in some critters.

When I first read the title of the thread, I missed the "cat" reading instead "The blasted neighbor tried to kill one of our keets."

I was going to lend support for that blasted neighbor . . .

but, since it was just a cat, I will offer this:

It was just a cat!

I'm glad your keet is alive. There are many predators, cats are not the least of which that will go after your keets.
Sometimes it is simply easier (and wiser) to control that which we have control over rather than everyone and everything else, like a cat.
Keets are easy enough to pen, or put in a baby yard with netting over, or . . . many options.
Take care to mind the keets until they are big enough to defend not only themselves, but you, too.
Soon, they will be telling you when there is a cat in the yard.

Enjoy!

Have any pics of your keets?
